Welcome to the eDesign Collaborative (formerly the HEeD Association), now a part of UPCEA! The eDesign Collaborative serves higher education instructional design teams (instructional designers, multimedia developers and team administrators) in higher education seeking networking and professional development.

Join us on the eDC ThinkTank Roadshow

For instructional designers UPCEA offers multiple virtual and in person events for professional developmentThe eDC ThinkTank Roadshow introduces eDesign Collaborative (eDC) members to various types of design shops models and practices, allows members to collaborate to find best practices, and support the networking needs of eDC members.

By partnering with universities throughout the country the eDC provides opportunities for instructional and learning designers to engage via on-site visits with concurrent virtual experiences along with stand-alone virtual conferences. Each host institution will highlight their expertise in a topic that will serve as the theme for the ThinkTank experience.

How do I join?

Log in to your account, and scroll down and "Browse Committees", view the eDesign Collaborative, scroll down and click "join" for the eDesign Collaborative.

What if my institution is not a member of UPCEA?

If your institution is not an UPCEA member, you may join the eDesign Collaborative at the nonmember rate of $450 per person through December 31, 2017.

Click here to begin the process of membership and to set up a profile. After you have set your profile up, go to your profile and purchase an eDesign Collaborative membership.

Individual memberships are not intended for deans, vice presidents/provosts, top-level directors of continuing education and online learning programs, or third party vendors.

What will I get as a member of the UPCEA eDesign Collaborative?

Once you join the eDesign Collaborative, you will be among the top instructional designers and multimedia developers in higher education in the country. You can network via our online community, find resources and information there, and attend conferences and events at UPCEA member rates. We will be introducing new features and benefits for eDesign Collaborative members in the coming year, including professional development opportunities.

Do UPCEA members pay extra to join the eDesign Collaborative?

There is no extra charge for instructional design teams who are from UPCEA member institutions to join the eDesign Collaborative. Add yourself to your institution’s roster and you’re on your way! (See next question for details.).

How can I get on my UPCEA roster?

To enjoy all that the eDesign Collaborative has to offer, you’ll need to be listed on your UPCEA institutional roster of professional members. Simply click here to find your institution and add your name. Once you have created your profile, you’ll also need to log in to your account, and scroll down and "Browse Committees", view the eDesign Collaborative, scroll down and click "join" for the eDesign Collaborative. 

Then, log into CORe, and click here to connect with your fellow instructional designers through your eDesign Collaborative.

Where do I sign in for the eDesign Collaborative discussion/online community?

eDesign Collaborative discussions are located in CORe, UPCEA’s online networking platform. You can sign in and click here to access the exclusive eDesign Collaborative online community once you are listed on an UPCEA roster and have added yourself to the eDesign Collaborative committee. To do so, if you have not already: log in to your account, and scroll down and "Browse Committees", view the eDesign Collaborative, scroll down and click "join" for the eDesign Collaborative. 

Then, log into CORe, and click here to connect with your fellow instructional designers through your eDesign Collaborative.

And remember that you also have access to the discussions and resources occurring in the Open Forum in CORe among the rest the UPCEA membership.

If I choose to participate in the eDesign Collaborative online community, what should I talk about?

Discussions in the eDesign Collaborative online community cover a wide range of topics including online course design strategies, working with faculty, emerging technology tools and resources, media production practices and team structure and processes. Many members post questions and invite feedback, while others share specific resources and information with the group. Join the conversation and hear what members are saying!
