Wellesley College Associate Provost and Founding Director of Strategic Growth Initiatives Nancy Coleman Serve as UPCEA Board President-Elect

WASHINGTON, April 2, 2020 – UPCEA, the Washington, D.C.-based association for university leaders in professional, continuing, and online education, welcomed Dr. Nancy Coleman as the association’s 2020-21 Board President-Elect during a virtual Board of Directors Meeting on March 18. Coleman is Associate Provost and Founding Director of Strategic Growth Initiatives at Wellesley College. 

Nancy ColemanAs UPCEA President-Elect, Coleman will lead the UPCEA Membership Committee. “I am honored to serve our UPCEA members and help support their critical work,” said Coleman. “Especially in trying times like these, advancing the innovative models and approaches demonstrated by professional, continuing, and online learning efforts is mission critical. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution to that charge.”

Coleman’s career has spanned higher education, corporate and start-up ventures. She oversees the work of Wellesley Extended, encompassing summer, online learning, and professional education. Previously, Coleman was VP of Academic Services at Keypath, an OPM provider, overseeing instructional design and student services for all global locations; and Director of Distance Education at Boston University leading a business unit overseeing online degrees and certificates across the university.

“Nancy brings a breadth of experience that mirrors the complexity of the field itself,” said UPCEA CEO Bob Hansen. “From a major research university to the corporate sector to a great liberal arts institution, Nancy’s insights and experience will help shape many of UPCEA’s new initiatives. I look forward to working with her as we face the challenges ahead.”

Coleman previously served as a Director-At-Large on the UPCEA Board of Directors and chair of the 2020 UPCEA Annual Conference Advisory Committee.

Coleman earned a BS in Marketing from Stonehill College, an MBA from Boston University, and a doctorate from The George Washington University.
